My Job

My face drawn by my students
As a teacher in a secondary school, teaching maths Form 4 and 5. I try my best to teach Maths in a friendly way of starting the class with jokes about myself, family or my gym. I know that most people assumed that to be a teacher is easy and relaxing but I can prove to most people that survive a day is even tough.

My tired student
My day starts at 5 plus, get breakfast and MUST leave the house before 7am to reach school before the first bell at 7.20am since we have moved to new technology of the punch card. When I first had to punch, I jokingly said that I now worked in a factory.
I always rush to class after the first bell if i have the first period .WHY?? so early written all over my students face. They will greet me in the manner that they like. Next, exercise books to check and class starts. Most of the morning, they will have empty looks if I am teaching a difficult topic. I will joke to them to wake them up saying that I am speaking MOON language.

After showing them how to solve questions, a few students will be asked to attempt questions on board. Most of them will their best to avoid eye contact. Maybe in their hearts, pls pls not me. I will choose those who are falling asleep and not paying attention.Once I had a group of boys that refused to do ,I had to put on a brave smile but one of the boys came to the front, solved all the questions for me. Well, you do get good ones to melt your heart that the battle is tough but I survived. He scored A in SPM to move on to university and now a fine officer.
My proud moment as a teacher.

There are many many bad times that I too cried and felt like killing some of them but along the way, I have learnt to love my students as my children cos they taught many experiences outside the classroom to be a better teacher. I cry with them over sad stories and mostly, we learnt to laugh  in happy moments that is priceless.I am proud to have them leaving me sweet memories. I am very proud and pleased that I became a TEACHER since 1985.
Future leaders.
